The second edition of the Dutch Artemis Cup of the YBF (Your Body Federation) was staged on May 17, 2009 at the The Artemis Cup 2009 flyerKennemer Theater in Beverwijk, The Netherlands, which is home base for all YBF contests.

The auditorium was again fully packed, and the stage was occupied by sixty-two athletes competing fortop honors in their classes. And there were quite a few classes in this contest, a total of eighteen! Not all classes were packed, some only had two contestants, but some men’s classes sometimes had five or six contestants competing for the title.

After the Artemis Cup contest had finished, a large number of contestants, guided by Dutch NAC president Leon Spijkers, competed for a spot in the Dutch delegation to the NAC World Championships, which were to be held in The Hague on June 6, 2009.

Contest promoter Diana Kamies of the YBF was the first person in the Netherlands who on stage during the Artemis Cup acknowledged the importance and influence to the sport of bodybuilding in the Netherlands of bodybuilder Randy Vogelzang, who deceased earlier this year. With a dramatic posing routine by Randy on DVD, Randy

was honored in the company of friends and family, after which the YBF announced that from this contest forward, the best posing trophy for the male and female athletes were to be named the Randy Volgelzang Best Posing Awards. The first awards were presented to the athletes by Randy’s brother Duan Vogelzang during this contest. A fitting reminder of a great bodybuilder and great person.

Due to the lighting in the auditorium and some bad camera settings done by me, the pictures did not turn out to be as good as I hoped for. I sincerely hope this will not diminish your viewing experience of the contest!

Below you can find all results and a selection of the pictures I took at the contest. The complete contest gallery of the Artemis Cup 2009 can be found here.
