The Olympia Weekend 2009 was held in Las Vegas from September 24 until 26, 2009. Mr Olympia 2008 Dexter Jackson had to defend his title against some very strong competitors, maybe the best competitor field ever.

In the months leading up to the Olympia, Phil Heath's name was most mentioned as the new champ, and Kai Greene's name came up quite often as well. Apparently, nobody was thinking about Jay Cutler...
Dexter was Dexter, nothing more, nothing less. Phil looked good, but started to spill over during the course of the competition. Kai was not as good as expected, maybe the earlier competitions drained him a bit. Branch Warren was sliced and diced, with incredible legs and great conditioning. But the big surprise came from Jay Cutler!
Jay was in incredible condition, and was apparently deadly serious during his preparations. He had to regain the title, whatever it would cost him. And he did, to the astonishment of the bodybuilding community. Never before did a beaten Mr Olympia regain his title!
Branch Warren had to settle for second place, his highest ever on an Olympia stage. Dexter got third, and Kai Greene was awarded fourth place.
Phil Heath's dream was shattered when he was awarded fifth place, and Victor Martinez, not the Victor we know yet, got placed sixth.
Dennis Wolf disappointed and took a shared sixteenth place.

Mr Olympia under 202 pounds
Kevin English beat 2008 Mr Olympia under 202 lbs David Henry, who had to settle for second place this time around. Eduardo Correa Da Silva got third place, and Flex Lewis dropped from third to fifth this year.

Adela Garcia took gold with the fitness ladies, Tanji Johnson took silver (fifth last year) and bronze went to the number two of 2008, Tracey Greenwood.

As always, the line-up of the figure ladies was mostly comprised of other women than last year. 2009's number nine, Nicole Wilkins Lee, took the title this time around, Gina Aliotti repeated last year's performance and took second place. Heather Mae French, tenth in 2008, now was awarded third place.
